Cherokee County Deputies Arrest A Rome Man On Charges Of Drug Possession & Trafficking

Cherokee County deputies and Floyd EMS responded to the report of a traffic accident on County Road 16 Thursday morning and found a man sitting in a vehicle.  The driver, 33 year old Stephen Charles Boyd of Rome, ran from EMS personnel when they attempted to check on him. 

Deputies located Boyd and took him into custody after discovering illegal drugs on him. 

The methamphetamine was found inside the suspect’s vehicle with the assistance of Sheriff’s Office K9 Keelo.  According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, investigators seized approximately 8 ounces of methamphetamine from the suspect.

Boyd was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of Drug Trafficking, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.  

Boyd remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center with bond set at $78,500.
