The statewide unemployment rate fell from 4.1% to a flat 4.0% for the month of November, and Cherokee County once again, posted a rate far below that – coming in at just 3.2%.
Neighboring DeKalb County matched that rate – while Etowah County and Cleburne County each posted a rate of 3.6% and Calhoun County came in at 4.0%.
Counties with the lowest unemployment rates were Shelby at 2.5%; Marshall, Madison and Cullman at 2.9% and Morgan, Limestone and Elmore at 3.0%; the counties with the highest unemployment rates were Wilcox at 7.9% and Clarke at 6.4% – with Dallas and Lowndes at 5.8% each.
