Rome Teen Charged with Murder Released on Bond

A teenager arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at the Cottis Inn on Martha Berry Boulevard last week has been released on $15,000 bond.  The bond amount was set by agreement between the state and the defense, according to the attorney for 18 year old Cody DeAngelo Thompson.

Chris Twyman said bond amounts for murder are usually higher, but that amount, in his words “…reflects where we are in this case.”  Twyman added, “From the defense point of view, this is a clear case of self-defense,” and as the case moves forward he intends to present evidence which will clear his client.

Warrants charging Thompson with murder were issued following the shooting death of Richard Boatner on December 11th.  Thompson turned himself in three days later.
