The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has released the name of the woman fatally injured in a Monday morning accident occurring on I-459 in Irondale.
The victim of the single-vehicle crash was Lula B. Lindsey of Gadsden, age 80.
Lindsey was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on I-459 south just past the I-20 interchange when the car left the roadway and struck the base of an interstate light pole around 9:30am. Lindsey was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver – whose name has not yet been released – was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment of non-specified injuries.
It’s believed the heavy rain may have played a part in the accident taking place,
