State Representative Ginny Shaver was officially sworn into office on Friday in the Courtroom of District Court Judge Wes Mobley, who also administered the oath of office.
This marked a historic moment for Cherokee County and House District 39, Shaver becomes the first woman ever to represent the district and the first Republican to represent the district since Reconstruction.
Shaver will fill the role that has been held by longtime Representative Richard Lindsey for almost 40 years.
