Former Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, who became Attorney General under Donald Trump, has resigned. In a letter to Trump, Sessions stated that he was resigning “at the president’s request.”
Rumors of a change at the AG’s post had been constant in recent weeks with all indications being that the president planned to shed cabinet members after the mid-term elections. The president said Sessions’ chief of staff Matthew Whitaker will become acting AG.
