Severe Weather Possible Overnight into Election Day

The National Weather Service said we can expect severe weather to develop overnight and stay with us into Election Day – along with most of the rest of the state.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed NORTHWEST Alabama under an enhanced risk of severe weather, which means numerous severe storms will be possible.  All forms of severe weather could be possible including strong long-track tornadoes in some areas, along with damaging winds and hail.

The thunderstorms predicted for northeast Alabama overnight and into tomorrow could be severe at times as well, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect storms to develop ahead of a cold front – there could be “super cells” as well as a squall line of storms.  That threat for severe weather will last into Tuesday, with damaging winds and a few tornadoes being possible, mainly over parts of eastern Alabama.
