Anna Lou (Salmon) Brannon Daniel

Anna Lou (Salmon) Brannon Daniel, 90, of Cullman, passed away October 26, 2018.  Graveside services will be held on 3: PM Tuesday October 30th at Cherokee Memory Gardens in Centre, Alabama.

Anna Lou was born on February 24, 1928 in Gadsden, Alabama to Hugh Lester and Liza Anne (Estes) Salmon.  She was the youngest of six children.

Anna Lou spent a great deal of her childhood in Ball Play, Alabama.  Along with her mother and siblings, she lived with her grandparents Kavanaugh Vaner Foster and Adell Arene (Adams) Estes in Ball Play.  These were treasured memories that Anna Lou often referred to throughout the years.  She attended elementary school in Ball Play and graduated from high school in Centre, Alabama.

On August 30, 1951, Anna Lou married Ernest Clifford Brannon in Centre, Alabama.  They resided in Centre, Alabama where they raised their six children, Ernest Steven, Noel Phillip and William Jeffrey Brannon, and William Gartrell Jr., Rachel Annette and Roger Dale Holloway.  After Ernest’s passing in 1977, Anna Lou earned her LPN through Gadsden State Technical College.  She worked as an LPN for many years in Alabama and Georgia until retirement.  Anna Lou was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Centre, Alabama.   

Marrying Henry “Hank” Daniel on May 18, 1987 in Polk County Georgia extended the family with stepsons; Joseph, Perry, Jason and Lee Daniel.  At the time of Hank’s death, they lived in Gaylesville, Alabama.  Anna Lou moved to Colorado for a brief time and returned to Fort Payne, Alabama to be near her sisters.   She left Fort Payne and has resided in Cullman until her passing.

Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Noel and Pat Salmon, Hugh Salmon, Jr. and Rodney and Marie “Boots” Salmon, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Loy “Samp” Clark, Violet Stephens Barker, Julius Frank Stephens and Russell Barker, nephew Sidney Stephens, niece Barbara (Stephens) Eidson, son Roger Dale Holloway and great-grandson Noah Matthew Tolbert.

Survived by her sons Steve (Mary) Brannon of Brunswick, Georgia, Phillip (Judy) Brannon and Jeff (Donna) Brannon all of Deer Trail, Colorado, Bill (Wendy) Holloway of Moulton, Alabama and daughter Annette (Mike) Tolbert of Cullman, Alabama, daughter-in-law Maiani (Rodriguez) Holloway and grandchildren Cliff Brannon, Heather Brannon, Jessica (Cody) Stoumbaugh, Luke (Tasha) Bradburn, Bronson (Tammera) Brannon, Whitney Brannon, Bill Holloway III, Holly Holloway, Seth Holloway, Brandy (Gregory) Watson, Christopher (Shay) Tolbert, Dusty (Ashley) Tolbert, Roger Dale Holloway Jr., 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you for the wonderful care that was given to Anna Lou by her daughter, Annette; granddaughter, Brandy and the staff from Alacare Home Health and Hospice.
