The Pilot Club of Gadsden has given a donation to Project Lifesaver, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.   A check in the amount of $500.00 was presented by the Pilot Club on Thursday, October 25, 2018, to be used for Project Lifesaver.   

Project Lifesaver provides a system for the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office to track individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia or autism in the event they wander away from their caregiver.  Investigative Lieutenant Robin Grant is the primary administrator of the program at the Sheriff’s Office.   

“With this donation we are able to purchase additional armbands and provide them at little or no cost to families who can benefit from this service,” says Lieutenant Grant.  “If someone has an armband and becomes lost, a radio signal is emitted that can be tracked using special equipment.”  

Sheriff Entrekin adds, “This equipment has saved multiple lives and decreased the amount of time spent by deputies searching for those who have wandered away.  We are grateful to the Pilot Club of Gadsden for their partnership with us in this program.”   Pilot Club President Sherre McGinnis said, “We are thankful to have the opportunity to work with the Sheriff’s Office and Robin Grant through Project Lifesaver.  It is a wonderful program that is helping families take care of their loved ones.”
