A 21 year old Gadsden man riding a motorcycle racked up a laundry list of charges during a high speed chase with law enforcement officials earlier this week.

Tuesday afternoon, Leesburg Police Department Investigator Jamie Chatman witnessed the rider traveling at a high rate of speed near Slackland Baptist Church; as he fell in behind the motorcycle he noticed that it had no tag and when he attempted to initiate a stop the driver choose to flee toward Etowah County. Investigator Chatman notified dispatch – and they in turn notified Etowah County for assistance.  Centre Police joined the pursuit at that time.

During the pursuit, the bike reportedly reached speeds of 100 mph.

As they entered Gadsden the bike turned right onto Meighan where Etowah County officers joined the chase; the driver then turned right onto 17th Street going toward Noccalula Falls – then after crossing the railroad tracks he lost control of the bike at a low rate of speed and wrecked, causing slight damage to the Leesburg patrol car.

After the fire department arrived, the driver of the bike – identified as Joey Chance Tierce – refused medical treatment.  At that point, he was placed under arrest, and transported back to Cherokee County, where he was booked into jail on a long list of charges, which included: Speeding, Reckless Driving, Attempting to Elude, Improper Passing, Running a Red Light, No Plainly Visible Tag, Improper Passing on the Left, Improper Muffler, Failure to Register a Vehicle, Improper Tires and Operating a Vehicle without Insurance.

Tierce was released the following day after making bond of $6,000.
