Toy Gun Prompts Reports Of An ‘Active Shooter’ At Piedmont Marching Band Festival On Saturday

It was a scary experience for spectators at the Chief Ladiga Marching Band Festival at Piedmont High School on Saturday following reports of an active shooter situation during the festival.

It appears that the reports were based on a child that had a toy gun, according to Piedmont Police officials

A spokesperson for the Piedmont Police Department said that it was a plastic gun. Officers spoke to the child, at this time it is unknown what further steps might be taken.

Piedmont Police Chief Freddie Norton was not immediately available for comment.
