Piedmont Man Taken into Custody Following Incident in Gadsden

A Piedmont man was taken into custody early Tuesday afternoon following an incident that activated the Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group.

According to Sheriff’s Office officials, that 9-1-1 call was made about 2:00pm, stating a male was possibly drowning in a creek behind a residence on Rocky Ford Road.  Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Natalie Barton said when law enforcement arrived on the scene, they found 36 year old Bryan Keith Puckett in the creek with a shotgun pointed to his head.

Deputies were able to safely take Puckett into custody around 3:45 that afternoon.

During the incident, dispatchers advised law enforcement personnel on scene that Puckett had several outstanding felony warrants that included first-degree theft of property, third-degree burglary and third-degree domestic violence/harassment – along with violations of his state probation.

He was checked out by medics at the scene and was then transported to the Etowah County Detention Center.

Responding agencies included the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, the Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group, Hokes Bluff Police Department and Ball Play #1 Volunteer Fire Department along with A-Med Ambulance.
