Shortly after 11:00am Tuesday emergency personnel responded to the scene of a house fire at #9 Smith Court in Centre.
Members of the Centre Fire Department and Centre Police were the first to arrive and were greeted by smoke and flames already coming from the windows and roof of the structure. Officers provided assistance as the firefighters immediately attacked the fire and worked to bring it under control as additional units arrived from the Spring Creek, Cedar Bluff and Leesburg departments.
The home was severely damaged; fortunately, no one was home at the time. Floyd EMS also responded to the scene.
The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
