Floyd EMS began operations in Cherokee County at midnight (effective October 1st, 2018) with three new fully-equipped Advance Life Saving (ALS) ambulances serving the county. Two of those units are stationed at Floyd Cherokee Medical Center while the other unit is stationed in Cedar Bluff.

Officials with the Cherokee County Health Care Authority and Communications District told WEIS Radio News that Cherokee County residents can rest assured that they’ll be receiving professional Emergency Medical Services from Floyd EMS.

In addition to those ambulances, Floyd will be providing a 2018 Ford Explorer Supervisor’s Emergency First Response Unit and access to EMS and a trauma back up fleet of three additional specialized units through mutual aid.  Also, Floyd will make available, upon need, a 15 patient Disaster Response Bus, a Neonatal Intensive Care Ambulance, a Specialized Bariatric Ambulance, A Bio-Hazard Response Unit, Specialized Disaster & Event Response Trailers, and Specialty Built UTV, Bikes and Golf Carts.
