Two Injured In Head-On Collision In Cedar Bluff

Two people were injured in a head-on collision on the Causeway near the State Docks in Cedar Bluff on Saturday afternoon. That accident blocked both lanes of traffic.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report the crash occurred at 12:45 p.m. involving a 2014 Kia being driven by 54 year old Elaine Jones of Centre and a 2015 Nissan driven by 20 year old Matthew Callen of Gaylesville.

Both Jones and Callen were listed on the report as being injured and were taken to Rome area hospitals by EMS ground units.

Traffic in both directions was backed up for miles for almost two hours as crews worked to cleanup a large amount of debris and remove both vehicles from the roadway.

The Cedar Bluff Police and Fire Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Cherokee EMS, Rescue Squad personnel and Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene.
