Group Collecting Money Illegally, Claiming to be “Christian Ministry” – Police Say It’s a SCAM

According to the Facebook page of the Ft Payne Police Department – on Wednesday officers detained a group of individuals taking up money, claiming to be a Christian ministry, but Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum says the so-called “charitable collections” are just a scam.

The group was posing as “New Life Ministries”.  They were seen on the roadside taking up money, claiming that is will be used for homeless people and to possibly start a church.

The individuals were apprehended in the act at the intersection of Glenn Boulevard and Airport Road in Ft Payne, wearing seemingly official uniforms with traffic vests using white donation buckets and picture ID’s.  Again, these are CON ARTISTS.  Ft Payne Police say that if anyone sees any of the group, do not give money to them, and call law enforcement to report them immediately.
