Benefit Motorcycle Ride this Saturday for Major Tommy Bradford

The Will’s Town Rats Motorcycle Club and Ft Payne Police Department will host a Benefit Motorcycle Ride for Major Tommy Bradford this Saturday (September 22nd).  Proceeds will go toward helping offset medical expenses for Major Bradford and his family in the wake of injuries sustained in the line of duty.  Donations can be turned in to any Ft Payne Officer, Captain Lee Traylor or Jeanie Waller.

Police Chief Randy Bynum says that a Ft Payne woman is now facing a number of additional charges in Alabama in connection with a high speed chase which left a Dade County Georgia Sheriff’s Office employee seriously injured.

Lora Wooten stands accused of stealing an air compressor from a Ft Payne residence back on August 7th and leading police on a high speed chase that stretched into Trenton, Georgia where Wooten’s vehicle hit Major Tommy Bradford as he was trying to lay out spike strips.

Bradford lost a leg as a result of his injuries.  Wooten allegedly aimed her vehicle at him.

Several law enforcement agencies became involved in that more than thirty mile chase, and Wooten was finally apprehended on the Dade County Courthouse Square. 

She faces multiple charges in Georgia, and according to Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum, several additional charges in Alabama including five counts of attempted assault of a officer – burglary – attempt to elude law enforcement – reckless endangerment – tampering with physical evidence – criminal littering – and numerous traffic violations.
