One Air-Lifted for Treatment Following Single-Vehicle Rollover on Highway 411 Monday Afternoon / UPDATED

A single vehicle accident injured the driver Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 411 south of Centre.

The driver, identified as 45 year old Kathy Stovall of a Gadsden address – was pinned in the overturned ‘92 Ford Ranger pickup for about 45 minutes before she could be extricated by the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and several members of law enforcement.

She was transported by Cherokee EMS to the FEMA Building in Leesburg, where she was to be air-lifted to UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.

That accident occurred when Stovall lost control of the pickup and went off the right side of the highway as she was traveling north toward Centre. The vehicle overturned and come to rest against a tree line. The outside northbound lane of 411 was shut down for more than an hour while emergency crews worked to remove the wrecked vehicle.

Centre Police and Fire Units responded along with Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Cherokee EMS and the Rescue Squad.

No additional information regarding the extent of Stovall’s injuries has been made available
