City partners with Gadsden City Schools to launch myOn Reading Program

PRESS RELEASE

The City of Gadsden and Mayor Sherman Guyton together with the Gadsden City Schools and Superintendent Tony Reddick are excited to announce the launch of a new state-of-the art tool for students, the myOn Reading Program.  The myOn Reading Program is a tool funded by the City of Gadsden’s appropriation of $300,000 for Reading and Math to Gadsden City Schools.

The myOn reading program allows students to access a digital library, containing thousands of enhanced and age-appropriate titles for PreK-12, and adjusts to individual learner’s interests, grade and reading level.  The tool is a next-generation learning technology that lets students access materials and build reading skills in class, at home, in a community center, or wherever they are.

By rolling out the myOn reading program throughout Gadsden City Schools, the City of Gadsden is backing up their commitment to support good educational outcomes through literacy. The myOn program allows teachers and staff to help students build critical reading skills and prepare for educational and career success.

The City of Gadsden is working to support the program beyond its financial support by adding the myOn reading program at Community Centers and the Boys and Girls Club.
