Five Individuals Jailed on Drug Charges in Cherokee County on Thursday

Five individuals were booked into jail on drug charges in Cherokee County on Thursday.

Those included James Floyd Smith 49 from Centre, 24 year old Gaylesville resident Whitney Paige Rollins and 26 year old Dillon Dale O’Cain of Leesburg – all charged with the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  O’Cain was additionally charged with Failure to Appear on a prior charge of Domestic Violence 3rd Degree.

Jonathan Ray Butler, age 32 of Centre was charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and one count of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, while 23 year old Alexander Preston Brown of Centre was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd Degree.

Butler has since been released after making bond, set at $3,000 – meanwhile, the other four remain in the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Bond for Smith and Rollins has been set at $3,000 each, and $3,500 for Brown. 

Bond for O’Cain has yet to be set.

The arrests was made based on probable cause, all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
