Centre Woman Charged With Financial Exploitation Of The Elderly, Forgery And Theft

A Centre woman has been arrested on charges of financially exploiting the elderly, theft and forgery and a second individual was arrested for intimidating a witness in the connection to the case.

Chief Investigator Josh Summerford says that an investigation was conducted by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office after an allegation was made that 49 year old Sherri Dupree of Centre was taking money by forging checks of an elderly person that she was employed to care for.

On Friday, Investigator Jordan Kelley charged Dupree with Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Person, Third Degree Forgery, and First Degree Theft by Deception.

23 year old Kyonna Dupree of Centre was arrested later on Friday following Sherri Dupree’s arrest after she sent threatening messages to a potential witness in the case. She was charged with intimidating a witness. 

Sherri Dupree was released after posting bond of $70,939 while Kyonna Dupree was released after making bond of $15,000.

The case will now be presented to a Cherokee County Grand Jury.

These arrests were made based on probable cause, all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
