A traffic violation turned into a drug arrest in DeKalb County recently when a deputy pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of County Road 3 and Highway 75.
As the deputy approached the vehicle to speak with the woman, he noticed that she seemed nervous, and when asked if she had any illegal drugs or weapons inside the vehicle she said no. At about that time, an Albertville Officer with his K-9 arrived to provide assistance.
The K-9 immediately alerted on the driver’s side door and on the inside of the vehicle and a subsequent search turned up approximately 113 grams of methamphetamine in addition to a syringe.
The driver, 61 year old Patti Kim Murphy of Albertville, was taken into custody at the scene and arrested on charges of Trafficking any Illegal Drug and Drug Paraphernalia.
The arrest was made based on probable cause, all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
