Log Truck Rolls Over on County Road 41 Thursday Morning / UPDATED

A log truck rolled over shortly after 10:00am Thursday, sending logs across the roadway on County Road 41 near County Road 794.

Fortunately, the driver, identified on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report as 62 year old Roger Scroggins of Calhoun, Georgia, was only shaken up during the mishap.

The roadway was shut down for an extended period of time while crews worked to cleanup the log spill and upright the vehicle.

Cherokee County EMA officials were called to the scene as a precautionary measure, due to an initial report that one of the saddle tanks on the vehicle had possibly been ruptured; also responding were members of the Broomtown Fire Department, Cherokee County Rescue Squad personnel, Cherokee EMS, Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Alabama State Troopers.

That accident remains under investigation by troopers.
