Information has now been released regarding the death last weekend of an ATF Agent in Marshall County. An agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives – 49 year old Hugh Anthony O’Conner – reportedly drowned Sunday on the Tennessee River.
Marine Patrol Troopers say the incident happened around 5:40pm near Painted Bluff, close to the Marshall/Madison county line.
They say O’Conner jumped into the water from a boat to help a woman retrieve items that had blown from their boat – and he failed to re-surface.
His body was recovered approximately 100 yards downstream.
