UPDATE

Verizon customers in four Northwest Georgia Counties are still having problems calling 9-1-1.  They are still unable to dial 9-1-1 directly.  It has been determined  that the issue is a communication failure between Verizon and the AT&T trunks.

Engineers are working to correct the problem.

In the meantime, if you are a Verizon customer in Floyd County and cannot get through when you dial 911, please call (706) 236-4541 for the administration line.  In Chattooga County, call (706) 857-3400 or (706) 857-0750Also, the text to 9-1-1 function still works for Verizon in Floyd County.

Floyd 9-1-1 also has the CLQ (Caller Location Query) ability.   This is where they send a text message to the caller’s phone. Once they accept the text and follow the instructions it sends their coordinates to 9-1-1 so that they can find their location.

Callers also have the capability to send us a picture through the CLQ to show their location.
