The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office took part in an aerial drug sweep last week which resulted in the arrest of a Lyerly man.
According to Drug Task Force Commander Pat Doyle, four helicopters were used to search for drugs in Walker, Dade and Chattooga Counties.
The aerial sweep found marijuana plants growing near Sling Alley Road in Lyerly which led to the arrest of 39 year old Joseph Allen Reed. He was charged with violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance act for possession of marijuana more than one ounce, manufacturing marijuana, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Reed was additionally charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempt to commit a crime.
