A Ft Payne man was arrested on Tuesday of this week during a traffic stop after a Ft Payne Police Officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. According to Chief Randy Bynum Officer Carl White quickly detected that a glass jar located inside the center console of the vehicle contained marijuana.
The driver, identified as 30 year old Angelo Conley Sanjuan, was arrested on charges of the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and the Chemical Endangerment of a Child due to the fact he had two year old male child in the vehicle at the time. The child did not belong to Sanjuan. Drug Task Force Agents, members of the Department of Human Resources, and the parents of the child were all contacted, with the child being released to his biological parents.
Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum stated Officer Carl White, Lt. Matt Wilson, and Sergeant Matt Jones are to be commended on their arrest of the individual in this case.
