Collinsville Man Charged with Reckless Murder in Connection with DUI Crash in May, 2017

A Collinsville man has been charged with Reckless Murder in connection with the death of a Gadsden woman, who died from injuries sustained in an accident occurring on Albert Rains Boulevard in Gadsden on May 27th of last year (2017).

Larwance McEldredge Williams, 38, was traveling south on Albert Rains when June Calvert pulled onto the road from River Street and was struck by Williams.  According to findings of the Traffic Homicide Investigation Division not only did witnesses say that Williams’ Nissan Maxima had been traveling at a high rate of speed, his speedometer was locked at 80 mph.

Blood and urine samples were collected at a nearby hospital and it was determined that his blood alcohol level was .095 – he also tested positive for THC, the mind-altering component of marijuana.

The investigation concluded that the high rate of speed, along with a combination of alcohol and drugs in his system, is what led to the accident occurring.

Thirty-eight year old Larwance McEldredge Williams was arrested Friday of last week, and booked into the Etowah County Detention Center.  He was released later the same day after posting bond of $50,000.
