Members Of The Cherokee County High School Fishing Team Compete In The 2018 National Championship

Cherokee County High School’s – Hunter Bailey and Kallie Jolly along with their boat captain Greg Bailey competed in the 2018 National Championship being held in conjunction with the 2018 High School Fishing World Finals on Pickwick Lake in Florence, AL.

This year, 384 teams of high school anglers traveled from 35 different states to put their skills to the test.  

The team left on Sunday morning early to start pre-fishing but trolling motor problems forced them to make a trip all the way home for repairs leaving them with one pre-fishing day.

  • Day # 1 – they weighed in with 1 fish weighing 2.09 putting them in 275th place
  • Day # 2 – they weighed in with the 5 fish limit weighing 15.06 putting them in 99th place
  • Day # 3  – they weighed in with another 5 fish limit weighing 20.03 -making them the second Chance Round leaders which put them into the 2018 national championship
  • Final day  –  they weighed in 4 fish for 11.08 and they claimed 20th place in the world finals.
