Leon Junior Green Sentenced in County Road 32 Animal Cruelty Case

Leon Junior Green of Gadsden was in the courtroom of Cherokee County Circuit Court Judge Jeremy Taylor on Wednesday morning for sentencing in connection with last year’s animal cruelty case involving horses pastured on County Road 32.

Green already pled guilty to Aggravated Cruelty to Animals – which is a felony.  He entered an open plea on April 6th of this year, and according to that agreement, was given credit for four days served in jail, and ordered to pay $419 in court costs and $175 in bail bond fees.

Wednesday morning, Judge Taylor sentenced Green to two years in the State Penitentiary, on a split sentence, with 30 days of actual jail time to be served in the county jail – with that to be served on weekends from noon Friday to noon Sunday, starting this Friday.

Green was also given two years supervised probation.
