One person is confirmed dead after an employee of the Human Resources Department entered the Anniston location of Lowes on Monday afternoon and made threats to his self –

According to Anniston Police it is unclear if he intended to harm anyone else; police say that after several hours of negotiations before Steven Spoon took his own life after isolating himself inside an office with no outside access. 

Sarah Lively with Lowe’s Media Relations released the following statement concerning the incident:

 “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Spoon’s family, as well as the employees at our North Anniston store. Lowe’s has extensive safety measures in place that were followed to quickly evacuate the store. We are focused on providing support for employees impacted by this tragedy, including providing grief counselors onsite. The store will remain closed today and plans to reopen Tuesday. Out of respect for the family, we are referring additional questions to law enforcement.”

Anniston police say that at this time no additional information will be released out of respect of the family and employees at Lowes.
