The Cherokee County Revenue Office has received reports of a phone scam in our area.

Cherokee County Revenue Commissioner Dustin St. Clair told WEIS Radio News that if you receive any calls stating that your property taxes are unpaid and you must call a particular number to pay or otherwise lose your land, not to call them back.

The Revenue Office does not even accept phone payments so they would certainly no ask you to make a payment over the phone.

This is a scam, as we continuously tell you do not engage these con artists – simply hang up.
