Two Juveniles Charged with Attempting to Elude

Two juveniles on a four-wheeler ended up being taken into custody after leading a Ft Payne Police Officer on a chase that ran several minutes last Friday (June 15th).

Lieutenant David Barnes responded to a call regarding the pair riding a four-wheeler down Beason Gap, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however instead of pulling over the two turned onto Godfrey Avenue North and fled.

The officer then turned on his siren, but the juveniles still refused to stop – heading toward 45th Street and Godfrey passing several cars in the oncoming lane of traffic as they traveled past Ft Payne Middle School the Sequoyah Trailer Park and Green Valley Subdivision before turning north onto the railroad tracks.

They tried to get off of the tracks in the area north of 67th Street.  Police eventually took the pair, ages 15 and 16, into custody in a wooded area near Nucor Steel.

They were charged with Reckless Endangerment and Attempting to Elude.
