Better Days Ahead for Ol’ Blue

There are better days ahead for Ol’ Blue thanks to a Good Samaritan and all those at Nichols Animal Hospital in Centre, including Dr. Jeremy Deaton:

Dr. Deaton stressed that the sheer cruelty of this case was one of the most appalling that he has seen, and that efforts are being made to find the person responsible.  Blue has a very distinctive look and anyone who has seen him before will surely recognize him, and will likely know the person responsible for his condition.

‘Ol Blue, so-named because he’s a Blue Tick Hound will be up for adoption once he has been nursed back to health – and even though he’s already much improved from the state that he was in when he was brought in, he still has a way to go, at least three to four weeks prior to a point before being able to leave. Dr. Deaton says anyone interested in providing Blue with a “Forever Home” can contact Animal Control at (256) 266-1390.

The above photos were taken earlier this week and it’s already evident that Blue will be a beautiful dog and a terrific, loving companion.

Caring for an animal is a great responsibility and one that should be taken seriously.

If for some reason, you find yourself unable to care for a pet there are humane options here in Cherokee County:

We’ll keep you updated on Blue’s progress and on the investigation into the matter.
