Name of Murder Victim Found Near Calhoun/Etowah County Line Released

Authorities have identified a woman whose burned body was discovered over the weekend behind a trailer off of U.S. Highway 431 near the Calhoun/Etowah County line.

Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown identified that victim on Wednesday of this week as 26 year old Kelsey Abigail Williams of Jacksonville.

The body had been discovered the previous Saturday morning around 5:00 after police and emergency personnel responded to a report of a fire in a mobile home court behind the old J.R.’s service station.

The coroner said Williams died of blunt force trauma and was likely burned after her death. She was pronounced dead on the scene and later identified through dental records.

Police say they believe she was killed in another location with the body then dumped in the location where it was found.  They’re currently looking for a white Voyager van with the tag number 11 HM 840 in connection with the case

Friends of Williams’ mother have set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses
