Kaitlyn Griffith-Revette Discusses Induction into Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame

Kaitlyn Grifffith-Revette, who will officially join the Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2018 joined Morning Show Host Jerry Baker on Thursday via phone for an interview regarding the upcoming Hall of Fame Banquet, scheduled for the 9th of June.

The event will be held in the Arena on the campus of Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre and promises to be a treat for all those in attendance with a terrific lineup of local sports heroes being inducted into the Hall this year.

Kaitlyn Griffith, now Kaitlyn Griffith-Revette, was a three-sport athlete primarily known as an incredible hitter for the Lady Warrior softball team batting an unbelievable .564 with 27 home runs, 26 doubles and eleven triples her senior season in 2011.  Making that season all the more impressive was the fact that she managed to drive in 96 runs, scored 80 more and was walked a total of 25 times.

Griffith’s home run total of 27 that season places her in the #2 all-time slot in the Alabama High School Athletic Association fast pitch record book.

Over the course of her varsity career, her home run total of 72 also landed her at a second place finish on the all-time list; same story with her 96 RBI total.

Griffith helped lead Cherokee County High School to six county championships, five area championships, three region championships and a Class 4A state runner-up finish.

She received the Alabama Sportswriters Association Class 4A Hitter of the Year Award, was a first-team selection at shortstop and earned a spot on the Super All-State Team her senior year. She went on to play softball at the University of South Alabama where she was chosen in 2015 as the Sunbelt Conference’s Most Outstanding Player.

Griffith is one of only three softball players to have her high school number retired.
