State Representative Craig Ford Secures $50,000 For The Cherokee County Board Of Education For New Technology

State Representative and Independent candidate for State Senate District 10, Craig Ford (I-Gadsden) has presented the Cherokee County Board of Education with a $50,000 check for new technology.

“There’s nothing more important than our children’s education,” said Rep. Ford. “I’m proud to support our children and their teachers any way I can, and I hope this additional funding will help our schools provide a few more opportunities to our kids.”

This new funding is specifically designated for technology funds and can be used to purchase new computers and software, as well as upgrade school security systems and meet other technology-related needs in the school system.

Rep. Ford currently serves in the Alabama House of Representatives, where he is a member of the Ways and Means – Education Committee, which is responsible for writing the state’s education budget.

During his time in the State House, Rep. Ford has been successful is securing millions of dollars for local schools, and has been instrumental in securing funding for several school construction projects throughout Etowah County, where his House District is located.

“I’ve always tried to help people and address needs throughout our area, regardless of whether it was actually in my House district,” said Rep. Ford. “For example, the City of Southside in Etowah County is not in my district, but we desperately need a new bridge over there so I introduced legislation to help make that happen.”

Rep. Ford has been the leading voice in the State Legislature calling for a lottery to fund college scholarships. Rep. Ford has also been a strong opponent of charter schools and the Alabama Accountability Act, which has taken hundreds-of-thousands of dollars out of local public schools and used it to fund scholarships to private schools in other parts of the state.

“Supporting education has always been my top priority in the State Legislature, and I’m honored to provide this additional funding for our schools in Cherokee County,” said Rep. Ford.

Craig Ford represents Gadsden and Etowah County in the Alabama House of Representatives. He is currently running for the State Senate in District 10 as an Independent.
