National Weather Service Prediction Regarding Alberto’s Possible Impact on North Alabama

According to the National Weather Service showers and thunderstorms will increase across north Alabama Monday as Alberto moves onshore.

The strongest storms could produce very heavy downpours and brief gusty winds for north Alabama and rain chances will continue to rise tonight into Tuesday morning, as the core of the storm approaches our area.  Very heavy rain will again be a possibility across the region as what’s left of Alberto moves across the region throughout the day on Tuesday.

A Flash Flood Watch will remain in effect today through Tuesday evening, and possibly into Wednesday morning.

Isolated tornadoes, which would be brief and on the weaker side, could also be possible on Tuesday.
