Authorities are looking for an escapee in the North Rome area, after the inmate walked off a city work detail at around 8:00am Monday.  

The subject, a 23 year old white male standing six feet tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds – has been identified as Sean Nicholas Powell who is currently serving time on drug charges; that, according to Floyd County Prison Warden Mike Long.

Police have up a perimeter set up around the Atteriam Heights neighborhood; the escapee’s toboggan was found between Atteriam Heights and East View Cemetery, and North Heights Elementary has reportedly been placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Authorities have stressed that should anyone see Powell, they should not approach him and should instead call 9-1-1 immediately.
