Leesburg Woman Fatally Injured After Being Struck By A Vehicle At Her Residence

A Leesburg woman died on Friday after being struck by a vehicle at her residence.

According to Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, Cherokee EMS, Leesburg Fire Department, and Leesburg Police Department all responded to the scene just after 6:00 p.m.

Deaton said that the subject was taken to a landing zone at the Leesburg FEMA building and was en route to a regional trauma center when her condition deteriorated and the helicopter diverted to Marshall Medical Center south in Boaz where she was pronounced dead. 

The victim is identified as 27 year old Leesburg resident Kirsten Raelyn Pearson of an Evans Road address. It appears a small child accidentally engaged the engine and the vehicle struck Mrs. Pearson.  According to Dr. Deaton She suffered a fatal crush injury to the chest. 

The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office and the Leesburg Police Department continue to investigate.

Funeral Services are listed below;

Mrs. Kirsten Raelyn Criswell Pearson age 28 of Leesburg passed away Friday April 20th at Marshall Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 7 PM Wednesday April 25th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Criswell officiating. There will be no visitation.

Survivors include husband, Logan Pearson of Leesburg; son, Pax Wyler Pearson of Leesburg; parents, father Kevin Criswell and mother Debbie Criswell of Centre; mother-in-law, Dee Pitts; sister, Madison Criswell of Centre; brother-in-law, Christopher Pearson; sister-in-law, Chrissy Pearson; grandparents, Barb and Earl Biggs; niece and nephew, Josh and Payton Pearson.

Mrs. Pearson was a native of Cherokee County and was a medical lab tech.

The family will accept flowers, or in honor of Kirsten, donations can be made to a savings account for Pax Pearson at Regions Bank.
