A two-vehicle accident involving a 2016 Kenworth and a 1995 Honda took place just before 2:00pm Monday near Hill’s 411 Store blocking the traffic in both directions for an extended period of time.  The driver of the 18 wheeler listed on the report as a 59 year old Birmingham resident, lost control of the rig, rolling it over onto its side, leaving the vehicle partially blocking the road – the 1995 Honda, driven by a 52 year old Gaylesville resident, sustained serious damage.

Fortunately, neither driver was hurt in the mishap.

Cherokee EMS, members of the McCord’s Fire Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Alabama State Troopers, Cherokee County EMA officials and the Rescue Squad all responded to the scene.   According to reports, the truck was hauling flour.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation.

Alabama State Troopers responded to another 18-wheeler accident on Monday in Cherokee County – this one a single-vehicle wreck involving a 2013 Freightliner, being driven by a 57 year old Cedar Bluff resident on County Road 115 at approximately 10:15pm.  Again no one was hurt. 

That mishap occurred during the height of the storms that swept through the county.
