An Etowah County man has been arrested in connection to domestic violence, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“James Wesley Reaves, 45, of Gadsden, is charged with one count of domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation, which is a felony,” investigator Brandi Fuller said.
A 9-1-1 call was made concerning a physical domestic incident where Reaves was allegedly dragging the victim across the yard with backpack straps. He also struck the victim several times in the face with his elbows.
When deputies arrived on the scene Reaves led them on a brief foot chase before he was apprehended.
Reaves is being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center without bond. He also faces charges of attempting to elude and drug paraphernalia. A hold has been placed against him for Etowah County Community Corrections.
