Floyd County Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle on U.S. 411 Monday Night

A Floyd County man was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing at the intersection of U.S. 411 and Mathis Road around 7:00 Monday night.

63 year old Alan Clark Edwards, of a Fred Kelley Road address, was pronounced dead at the scene by County Coroner Gene Proctor.  According to Rome Police, Edwards, who had a gasoline can in his hand, had apparently run out of gas on the bypass.  It appeared he tried to cross the intersection while that light was still green, and was struck by a small pickup truck traveling eastbound. Officers said at this time they didn’t anticipate any charges being brought against the driver of the vehicle.
