Cherokee County Highway Department personnel were called to repair a portion of County Road 123 off of Highway 9 North in Cedar Bluff after a concerned citizen called 911 reporting a large sinkhole on Friday night.
Highway department workers had to bring a road grader and a large load of chirt to temporarily fill the hole. County Engineer Corey Chambers said that they are going to let that chirt settle and then repack and patch the road.
Fortunately the hole was discovered before anybody drove into it. Cherokee County EMA Officials were also called to the scene.
