One Dead, One Injured Following Head-On Collision on Black’s Bluff Road Inside Georgia State Line Thursday Morning

One man was killed and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on Blacks Bluff Road Thursday morning.  According to Trooper Lee Bowden with the Georgia State Patrol a 2008 GMC Acadia, driven by 22-year old Corey Boyd of Summerville, was traveling east.  He was negotiating a curve to the left near George Road and drifted into the westbound lane striking a 2007 Chevy Silverado head-on.  Boyd was partially ejected.  A passerby was attempting CPR when authorities arrived on the scene.

According to Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, Boyd was pronounced dead at 9:15am in the Emergency Room at Floyd Medical Center from massive chest trauma.  The driver of the Chevy, 68-year old Verdon Hogue of Adairsville, was entrapped and had to be extricated.  Bowden said he was conscious and in stable condition.

The Georgia State Patrol was dispatched to the scene at 7:59am.
