Centre Pair Arrested on Drug Distribution Charges

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and Deputies – along with other members of the Alabama Regional Drug Task Force executed distribution warrants at a County Road 19 residence near Centre on Friday (February 3rd), arresting three individuals.

Investigators were executing arrest warrants for Tracy R. Maxwell, 50, and Jamie L. Fox, 25, both of Centre for the Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, when, in the process of serving the warrants, deputies located additional illegal drugs at the residence, adding to the charges.  In addition to those distribution warrants Maxwell was charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute and three counts of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.  Fox was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Another individual, James W. Maxwell, 62, also of Centre, was also in possession of illegal drugs and was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Investigators seized several types of illegal drugs and firearms from the scene.  The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is assisting in the investigation.

Deputies transported all three suspects to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where they remain awaiting a bond hearing.
