Mrs. Betty Bishop, age 82 of Centre, passed away Wednesday, January 31st at Cherokee Medical Centre.
Funeral services will be held 3 pm Sunday, February the 4th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Smith, Rev. James Rainey, and Rev. Leslie Bailey officiating, burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Pall bearers include Don Cothran, Whitt Walker, Stevie Grissom, Keith McGatha, Josh Barrett, Thomas McGatha, Cory Hansard, and Wayne Eubanks.
Survivors include her son, Jerry (Reba) Bishop of Centre, as well as her brothers, Fred (Sue) McGatha of Centre and M.L. (Linda) McGatha also of Centre. Grandchildren include: Jennifer Bishop, Cristy (Cory) Hansard, Keith (Nikki) Robb, and Megan Robb. Great Grandchildren include: Abby King, Ally King, Easton Abernathy, Hayden Robb and Alex Robb.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Mancil McGatha, Horace McGatha, and Hermon McGatha. She was also preceded in death by his sisters, Sarah Ferguson, Lillie Mae Weaver, Hazel Russell, Minnie Green, Mildred Neyman, Syble Agan, and Evelyn Wheeling.
Mrs. Bishop was a native of Cherokee County and the daughter of Marion McGatha and Maybelle Adams. She was a member of the Centre Congregational Holiness Church.
