US stocks close higher, health care and tech stocks rally

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Wall Street was in the green on Friday with gains from health care and tech stocks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared 223.92 (+0.85 percent) to finish the session at 26,616.71.

The Nasdaq climbed 94.61 (+1.28 percent) to close at 7,505.77, while the S&P 500 finished trading at 2,872.87, up 33.62 (+1.18 percent) for the day.

Crude oil prices were nearly 1 percent higher and over $66 per barrel.

Winners and Losers:  Intel Corporation’s quarterly earnings and data-center sales beat investors’ expectations. Shares skyrocketed 10.55 percent.

An earnings beat from AbbVie and a boosted 2018 outlook had the drugmaker’s stock finish 13.77 percent higher.

Shares of Wynn Resorts tumbled 10.12 percent after the Wall Street Journal reported allegations of sexual misconduct against CEO Steve Wynn.
