Piedmont City Council Approves New Wrecker Regulations

On Tuesday, the Piedmont City Council adopted a series of regulations regarding wrecker services working within the city.

With the new ordinance, towing companies on the city’s rotation schedule will now be required to meet all the qualifications set forth by the State of Alabama, such as having proper equipment and insurance, as well as maintaining a business location within the City of Piedmont’s police jurisdiction.

In other business, the council approved the city’s 2017-18 budget.

Diane Studdard was appointed to fill a current vacancy on the Piedmont Health Board.

Bills for payment were approved in the amount of $681,379.08.

Also, the council agreed to allow Piedmont Police Chief Freddie Norton to hire a part-time dispatcher.

The next regular Piedmont City Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6th, following the work session, which is set for 5:30pm.
