Richard Edmond Rains, age 69, of Fort Payne passed away on January 8, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Rains was born on November 11, 1948 to the late John and Viola Johnson Rains. He was a 1966 graduate of Cherokee County High School and was employed as a technician by Modern Heating and Cooling.
Mr. Rains was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church where he served as Song Director.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, January 13, at Allen Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Ken James, Rev. Chris Crowe, and Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00pm Friday, January 12, at the funeral home.
Mr. Rains is Survived by his wife, Betty Ann Goggans Rains; sons, Joshua Rains (Mary Dea), Aaron Rains, Avery Rains, Josiah Rains; step-son, Michael Farmer (Mary); daughter, Abigail Rains Hernandez (Marco); brother, Bobby Rains (Julia); sister, Brenda Ann Renfroe (Preston); grandchildren, Molly Farmer, Nathan Farmer, Jalen Farmer, Cameron Farmer, Brenda Beusing, and soon to arrive, Noah Farmer.
